💙💛 U16 Boys Hurling Shield Champions! 💙💛
🏆 Blackhall Gaels 2-18
Dunboyne 1-06
There was unfinished business for our U16 boys as they faced Dunboyne in the Shield Final, a year after losing this same final on their opponents' home ground. The difference a year can make was clear for all to see as the lads produced a tremendous performance to bring the shield home to Blackhall Gaels.
Training had an extra edge over the past couple of weeks, and from the throw-in the boys showed just how much they wanted this. It was an intense, physical battle, but they stood up to every challenge, won their individual battles across the pitch and produced some excellent link-up play. A late Dunboyne goal kept the contest alive, but Blackhall Gaels went in at half time leading 1-11 to 1-04.
Dunboyne came out strongly after the break, but our lads gave absolutely everything. Backed by fantastic support from the bench and the travelling supporters, they never let up and finished the game as deserved winners on a scoreline of 2-18 to 1-06.
A special mention to John Hanlon, who contributed an outstanding 1-12 on the night. 👏
The team-building weekend also played its part in bringing this group closer together, and a big thank you to Davey and Catherine for helping make that happen.
🏆 A brilliant end to a fantastic year
This victory puts the finishing touch on an outstanding season for the boys across both football and hurling. From strength and conditioning with Tommy to the training sessions, Féile, league and championship campaigns, the lads have shown commitment and development throughout the year.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in the management and running of the team, with special thanks to Paddy, Shane and Conor for their tremendous support throughout the season.
To the players, take pride in what you have achieved. You have grown as players, teammates and young men, and you have given the club plenty to look forward to. Hopefully, this group will form the first fully Blackhall Gaels Minor team in many years.
Congratulations to every one of you. You have done yourselves, your families and Blackhall Gaels proud! 💙💛
