The first ten minutes of the AFLD1 match between Blackhall Gaels and Don/Ash was a nip and tuck affair with two points each. The Ashbourne team pulled away over the next few minutes leaving a 3 point gap. Blackhall left it until the last four minutes of the half to get themselves back in to the game..............

The first ten minutes of the AFLD1 match between Blackhall Gaels and Don/Ash was a nip and tuck affair with two points each. The Ashbourne team pulled away over the next few minutes leaving a 3 point gap. Blackhall left it until the last four minutes of the half to get themselves back in to the game. This four minutes was their purple patch as they squared the match up with points from Donnacha Tobin, Mark Ferris & Tadhg Brosnan. Don/Ash had the answer to this though. They won their own kick out and pushed forward to the Blackhall goal mouth raising the green flag. Extra time of four minutes allowed for even more action. BHG pulling within two and Don/Ash responding with a point to leave it at 1-6 to 0-6 at half time.
The second half started in similar fashion to the first with both teams adding in equal amounts to their scoreline. The tenth minute of the second half was the defining minute. Don/Ash took advantage of BHG mistakes by slotting in two goals. They did not score again for the rest of the second half but managed to keep the Gaels at bay to a large extent. Blackhall added only two more points leaving the final score Don/Ash 3-7 Blackhall Gaels 0-9.
